Girls Spar FAI 5-A-Side Soccer Team

The girls from 2nd to 6th class participated in the Spar FAI 5 - a - side soccer competition in Shiven Rovers FC, Newbridge this week. They preformed really well, working very hard for one another with tremendous team spirit. It was a very enjoyable experience with one victory, one draw and one defeat. More importantly however was the attitude the team displayed. Well done girls.

👀 Should Have Gone To ..... Kilrickle Opticians 😉

Welcome to Kilrickle Opticians! We are delighted to announce that our first month of business has been a very successful one! We haven't had a minute, with all the customers coming in for their eye tests. If you are looking for a friendly, thorough and enjoyable service to get your eyes tested, please do not hesitiate to contact the school, and we're sure we can squeeze you in!😊

Just have a look at all of our fun activities we have been doing whilst learning about our eyes and the opticians. The children watched how an eye test is carried out on a video clip, read the story 'Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?' and 'We Are All Different'  and played 'I Spy'.

Close inspection using mirrors!

Cool Dudes!😎

Our busy builders were kept going with small world and junk art- just look at how creative they can be!

Engineers Week

What a busy week we're having in Kilrickle! This week marks Engineers Week 2019. 1st and 2nd Class have been learning that it is an Engineer's job to design, build and maintain things. We kicked off Engineer's week with some toothpick constructions. It was very difficult to stop ourselves from eating the marshmallows but we managed to make some great structures that Dermot Bannon would be jealous of.

We also learned how Engineers construct bridges. We experimented with walls, arches and corrugated card to make our bridges stronger.

Pancake Tuesday

The Junior Room put on their chef hats and made some delicious pancakes.

There was no shortage of volunteers to 'taste test'!

The pancakes gave us extra energy for our 'Daily Mile'

Spring Art

Junior and Senior Infants have been busy making beautiful Spring Daffodils, while 1st and 2nd class learned all about the artist Kandinsky and recreated his famous painting using hearts for Valentines Day
