Being Healthy
The children in Mrs. Duane's room have been learning all about what it means to be healthy. Getting enough sleep, brushing our teeth and keeping fit were some of the suggestions. Eating healthily is also a very important way of being healthy.
The children have been keeping active dancing to 'Just Dance' and playing team sports in PE, including rounders, hurling and basketball. In class, we had a fruit salad party and a vegetable salad party! The children used some vegetables from the school garden, as well some from their own gardens at home. We even made potato salad!Delicious!

🏃♀️ Manning Cross Country Event 2019 🏃♂️
Well done to the boys and girls from 3rd to 6th class who competed in the Manning Cross Country event this year in Loughrea's Athletic Grounds in Bushfield last Wednesday. The day was beautiful albeit a little hot for running in hence the tired red faces but everyone did themselves proud with some really excellent performances in terms of race tactics and endurance. Many thanks to our parents who helped transport our pupils on the day and supported our athletes during their races. Well done to all involved.

Manning Cup 2019
Well done to all the boys and girls that represented the school at this year's Manning Cup athletics event that took place in Loughrea's Athletic Grounds in Bushfield on Thursday, May 9th.
The event was very well organised with all the girls and boys from Kilrickle N.S. performing with distinction.
The school carried out trials the week before the event to choose which students would participate in each event category and it was very obvious from the beginning that our participation in the Daily Mile initiative this year really paid dividend to the children's fitness.
On the evening the the boys took home third spot in the overall boys competition while the girls narrowly missed out third position in their category coming fourth overall out of all the participating schools.
There were a number of stand out performances however on the night from individual boys and girls from the school and in the relay races our good teamwork was noticeable.
Well done to all involved. Kilrickle Abú!!!

Boys' FAI 5-a-side Soccer Competition
This week it was the boys' turn to take the trip to the FAI 5-a-side soccer competition in Shiveen Rovers F.C.. To say weather conditions were cold, would be an understatement! But the two teams of boys from Kilrickle showed great team spirit and battled through, with one of the teams reaching the quarter finals! They showed great determination and never stopped playing their hearts out until the final whistle. It was a great day out for all of the boys from 2nd to 6th class.

Girls Spar FAI 5-A-Side Soccer Team
The girls from 2nd to 6th class participated in the Spar FAI 5 - a - side soccer competition in Shiven Rovers FC, Newbridge this week. They preformed really well, working very hard for one another with tremendous team spirit. It was a very enjoyable experience with one victory, one draw and one defeat. More importantly however was the attitude the team displayed. Well done girls.
